    Linksys setup:

If you stick with one brand, it will be more consistent and easier to setup for first time WiFi users.

The D-Link new 802.11b USB adapter had trouble connecting to a Linksys WAP11 set on repeating mode.

I was setting up WiFi at a house and repeating the signal to this remote area about 2000 feet away.

My friends Centrino connected fine, and so did my Lucent Silver WaveLan card, but the USB D-Link was dropping in and out.

I suspect that USB devices are limited on amp draw? And therefor aren't as powerful as the PCMCIA or PC cards?

OMG, that thing is huge, it's like 8 feet long. Remember the CB days, ehehe.
I had a Antron 99 whatever it was mounted on my roof on a mast. It was freaking 15 feet long and went 50 feet high. ahahahah. That's for a house to distribute 802.11 to the whole block!

You can run it as is. I don't know how far you want to go.

    the keyword was like.

looks like its mounted on a mast. Look at the U bolt and you can judge size.

It says: 2.5 inch diameter mast - thats a large pole.
