    Yeah, thought about that too.

I'd need a USB2.0 motherboard though as the Eden800 only has USB1.1 and hence can only run it a 12mbs max.

As this rate it might be quicker to get another case

Its in the boot (trunk) of my celica, so surrounded on all sides by metal.

My current Belkin 11mps USB device sits on the rear parcel shelf along with the gps device so has a very good view of my wireless network when parked on my drive. However its no good for use with netstumbler

NJay, I'm just throwing this out, since it looks like you're at the end of your rope.

It's hard to judge from the angle that the pic of your case is taken, but it looks like if you pull the HDD and mounting assembly out, and a PCI card might fit crossways. If you're willing to buy a PCI extender with a flexible cable you could mount the PCI card where the HDD is now. You'd have to put a hole in the side of your case for the antenna. Alsoyou'd have to put the HDD somewhere else. But it looks like there's room for it to stand up on it's side in the front, next to the CDROM.

Like I said, that's just a thought. Hope it works out for ya.

I'm curious if that case can be forced into taking a 3.5" hard disk...

    Right, here we go.

in terms of moving the Laptop hard drive its 70mm wide. The blue line is the width of from edge to side of laptop drive tray and its 51mm. The red line is height from base to case lid and is 55mm. I.e drive won't fit there either. However I think I may have spotted somewhere it WILL fit and hence I could do as you suggested and possibly mount the pci card where the laptop drive is.

As to a 3.5inch drive. You'ed need to drop the laptop tray down a few mm (or get rid of it but then need someway of holding the CD/DVD drive in situ) but then width and length are no probs

And as to the cable in the foreground. That's a mini-usb mb socket to std usb convertor cable that means the USB front sockets can be used.

Errrm, you guys, 1st the bad news.

I owe all you guys who have been helping a HUGE apology as I re-measured everything and due to the fact at the time I had not actually the cut hole for the antenna (and I didn't take the whole case to bits to get the MB out) I guess I mismeasured how far into the slot the PCI card could go and consequently it was alot closer fit than before so I went for it and started hacking the case.

    The good news is......it fits

I had to do some cutting but boy is this a close fit. The belkin card is about 1mm too high but the case and MB flex just enough to allow the whole thing to slot together. The whole at the back is larger as you have to slide the antenna soicket though 1st at a slight angle and then slot the pci card into place.

Once again thanks. If it were not for the having another look to see if I could put the laptop drive elsewhere then I'd have never have discovered this.

Good to hear it worked out.

Now you need to check and see if a 3.5" hard drive can be forced in as well...

I posted pictures further up showing a 3.5in drive in relation to the current laptop one. I reckon you could but since I don't need a 3.5inch drive I'm not gonna try modding the drive tray to see
