Interest in new Project - Mp3, gps, sms all in one

I havnt been here in a long time but now im back and i bring you all an idea/project that i may undertake. All i want from you is an interest check.

I propose to make a din size mp3 player with a built in hard drive (fat32 at first - easier )and radio etc. It will have a usb port for updating files after initial fill or maybe a network port. cd rom could also be included. This is basic enough and has been done before so nothing really new here.

After that i will include a gps/gsm modem which can be used for remote startup of the car plus other fuctions such as checking status of alarm, position of car if stolen etc all by sms and whatever else takes my fancy.

control of device in car will be using custom made remote with little lcd display off nokia 3310. Remote can also be used for gps readout/ remote startup.

Gps/gsm modems arent cheap circa E250 but the rest can be thrown together for under €100 i reckon plus a little markup.

This is just a little idea i had recently as a possible hobby for the next few months and i was wondering does it have a future or is it just overkill?? Does any1 have any thoughts on it/ recommendations??

i too would be interested. what would you estimate for cost? UI? size of scrren? startup time? maybe add a video out (RCA) for DVD viewing cap.?

sorry for all the questions, just what comes to mind/suggestions.

There doesnt seem to be much interest at all in this...

Im still going to have a lash at it tho, Mobile everything is on the way with umts and 3g and im definitely going to catch that boat. The more it think on this more potential i can see for it. Literally everything in the car controlled remotely even sms sent when car is low on fuel/ needs a service. the possibilities are endless

All i need is a sponsor/6 months and i reckon i can have a working project. I reckon i can get an answer off 1 possible sponsor in the next few days and he's always been good to me.

Down the line i can see an end product that will fit in a din size container containing hard drive, usb, mp3 decoder, cdrom, gps/gsm module plus dvd/divx decoder chip with motorised lcd which retracts on power up/down. Not that would be red hot!!

I havent read this post in 3 yrs nearly.

Lots of water under the bridge since but no project unfortunately.
No time and less motivation,
Im only now getting back into the whole diy projects etc
