Just my opinion, but I think you're looking at it backwards. A lot of the descisions for making a car PC depend on how much money you want to spend. Figure out how much money you have to spend on it, and then you can figure the best car PC configuration for that price.

If you've decided on what parts you want, it's an easy thing to go to www.pricewatch.com and find out how much they are.
    So far:
    M10000 Nehemiah, 1Gb RAM, Opus 90w PS, Buffalo Tech WLI2-USB2-G54, 160 Gb HDD, GlobalSat BU-353 GPS, iGuidance, Zippy EL-610, Panasonic CW8123B Slim Slot CDRW/DVD, 10" Lilliput, Sony XA-300, Sony CDX-MP30 Head, OBD-II

What size motherboard are you going to be using?
What power supply are you going to be using?
Where are you mounting the PC? Are you using an external DVD/CD drive?
Are you going with a Laptop or desktop hard drive?
What USB devices are you going to use? You using WIFI?
    Your post is missing info...

heres what i am thinking to get for my setup:
screen: lilliput or screens off digitalww.com touchscreen of course
    mobo: VIA EPIA-M10000 Nehemiah
    EPIA-ME6000

    psu: OPUS 150w

    internal cd-rom
    desktop hard drive

i will be mounting the pc in my trunk. i'd like the case to be more like the shuttle's, iwill, or casetronics. for usb, the only things i will be using is a wireless keyboard. im not too sure on how to transfer files from my home pc to the car pc. pretty much all i want out of this setup is the use for mp3s and maybe add GPS far down the road.
