where are you getting the new drivers from?
i have winxp sp1 and it recognizes the card as a VIA/S3G CLE266 Graphis Card ... i have it runing at 800x600 75Hz
I think I just loaded the drivers off the CD ... i don't remember downloading any.
Hardware that I have:
M10000 Ezra
512 Megs of Kingstone 2700
80 gigs of Maxtor 7200 rpm
Using on board video - most frustrating thing so far.
OS:
Windows XP Pro with SP 1
I got this board few months back at Fry's with three year warranty. Now the problem: VIA video drivers just won't get installed properly. No matter what I do - no luck. Right now it's using XP's default drivers which don't even recognize what on-board video card it is and only work at 60hz (kinda hurting my eyes). When I install newer drivers, it gives me this not so nice pop-up with something like "drivers are for older version of windows" and all I see is some low number of colors and resolution no bigger than 800x600. So I go and search for the solution: somebody said that they got over with it by updating the BIOS. Download new BIOS, get that little program to flush it and it tells me that I cannot flush BIOS because it's not the right one(specifically, not for the hardware I have). BIOS was of November. The old version installs, but doesn't do jack to make video card work. Another thing this board messes up is hibernation. Actually, there's no hibernation at all. If I go to Display Properties > Screen Saver > Power - there's no Hibernation tab.
To solve the video card problem I have two choices:
1. Get a PCI video card (which I might need anyway) and hope that drivers will work for that.
2. Go back to Fry's and let them know that I'm not too happy with the board.
To solve hibernation problem, well, I have no idea how.
Any input from you guys will be appriciated, especially from someone who had this kind of thing going on.
Thanks and sorry for the long post

Sounds like you should take it back to Frys and exchange it for another one. I've had absolutely no problems with the display adapter. When I setup mine for hibernation I went throug Control Panel > Power Options > Hibernation Tab > check the box allow hibernation. I do have a Neimiah and not an ezra with xp home sp1. Dealing with USB devices has been my biggest problem so far. A powered hub helped a ton, but still have issues with a couple of things coming out of hibernate correctly.Originally Posted by carabuser
odd - I don't have a Epia (although i plan on getting one soon)
The error that XP gives you is an interesting one, it probably means that you installed the wrong drivers (ones for 98, not XP).
the official VIA driver site for the M10000 is here: http://www.viaembedded.com/product/D...therboardId=81
There's some bios patches there too - try to update the bios in order (start with the oldest bios patch, then work up from there) it might need the previous ones before it accepts a new one (although i doubt it)
are there different drivers for the m10000 Ezra vs. the m10000 Nehemiah?
Car: 2000 Audi A4 Avant 1.8t
Carputer 2.0: removed. Back to stock.
i don't think there's different vid drivers for the ezra and nehemiah ... via doesn't even tell you how to tell the difference between the two
if you've got an ezra you should get a nehemiah instead as they're better all around

I ran into this. For some stupid reason, the drivers are tied to the BIOS ROM version. If you're running the newest via drivers, you need to make sure to use the newest ROM update also. If you (like me) are using the older drivers in order to get more features and resolutions, you should downgrade the ROM.Originally Posted by carabuser

first of all, thank you guys for all the info. Now the sad part: nothing works. I tried the BIOS drivers from the viaembedded website and only version 1.0F can be installed. For the others I get this message: "The BIOS image does not fit the mainboard! You can't flash the BIOS!" Not very encouraging. Downloaded video drivers from there and installed them - nothing happened. It didn't get installed. Very weird. So it looks like I'm gonna make a trip to Fry's tomorrow and hope that they're gonna credit me instead of giving a new board. Really fed up with this driver bs. Thinking of getting some P4 and a motherboard with nVidia chip.

I've had the same problem when trying to use downloaded drivers for the EPIA. I ended up going back to using the ones on the CD and everything worked fine. Try uninstalling everything and then installing the drivers off the CD, don't just install the one driver over the other as the files might be older and not replace the offending files. My 2 cents.
