the only way I could flash the bios was with the floppy drive. No matter what I did using flashport it wouldn't flash it. So my best advice would be try to get a floppy drive, go to the car and do it like that.
Hey,
I have an Epia-M1000, with the original bios, I wanted to update to the most recent one listed on Via's site. Since the carcomp does not have a floppy drive, convenience sort of forces me to use Via's flashport utility. However, after I've backuped my current bios rev, and chosen the new one to flash, it tells me that the files is too large, and won't fit. Then it cancels.
Any suggestions? I've tried a few different bios versions listed on Via's site in the M1000 section.

Damn bastards...why in devils name are their stuff still using DOS or floppy for that matter.
because flashing from windows is a bad idea (imagine the animal giving a blue screen while flashing the bios ?)
I don't need no stinkin' startup-shutdown controller... That's what journalized filesystems are for...

thanks for the replies, I guess I'll pull the comp out and find a floppy I can use.

I've experienced the same problem with VIA's flash port utility. Can someone email me the floppy disk files needed to flash the bios via floppy disk?Originally Posted by Birrman54

Could you not use a USB pen drive or whatever they are called?
You can also make a CD. I made a CD and booted to it. Here's the the ISO I made. Its zipped at the link below.
Once it boots, type "awfl823b.exe i0100113.bin".
