My thoughts were the video would be good enough for a small LCD (With VGA to LCD converter of course) but you could use a sound card to improve the sound quality.

    What do you guys think?

    Cool

    Pigseye,
    Thankyou for your generous comments.

I have some more pictures that I am scanning and I will add in the next few days. As for the headunit...I will open that sucker up and take some pics for you. I don't have a digital camera so it may take a while but I will let you know when I add the pics. If you have any questions about the headunit mods feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them.

If you email keypower they will be able to give you a price (they seem to cost less now than when I bought mine). It was not at all cheap but I think was worth every cent.

    Cheers.

    Hi AndyM,
If your head unit is installed already, don't open it up to take pictures just for me. I just think it's neat when people find low cost solutions for the challenges they run into. It would have given you another chance to show off your technical prowess!

I'll shoot Keypower and email to get some quotes.

    Thanks Again,

    Question

    Hi AndyM,

did you find a way to prevent rebooting when you start the engine yet? I tried to build a tank circuit with some big electrolytic capacitors I already had ( http://www.mp3car.com/cgi-bin/ultima...c&f=9&t=000232 )
, but it didn't work (it actually worsened the problem). I either used the wrong kind of diode or small capacitors, so I would like to know the diode part # and capasitor's size.
I am asking you because (as you alredy know)we have the exact same setup and a similar sized car (engine>alternator>battery). :-)

    Regards,
    Dimitris

    Pigseye,

My headunit is removable and the cover just pops off so removing and opening it is just a 10 second operation with no tools needed. I was wanting to add pics of the mods to my site anyway so thankyou for motivating me to do so. I'm off to buy a film now.

    Dimitris,

Sorry to hear your tank circuit isn't working. I have been following your progress with it in the hope that when you get it working I might be able to copy it

A few days ago I got a new battery and had to have the starter motor reconditioned (new contacts and small bearings). I had great hopes that this would solve the problem but sadly it has not made any difference to the PC rebooting while starting (but the car starts a lot better!). So I still cannot start the car without the PC rebooting. Thankfully it doesn't reboot when it STR

    Sorry I couldn't help.
