is bondo safe to touch? instead of sitting there and sanding and dremeling for hours, can you shape it and smoothen it first using your finger before it dries?
My LCD's actually mounted into the dash (as aposed to the dash cover), so I'm afraid it won't be so easy for me to remodel the dash cover. Yall have any thoughts for extending a faceplate?

If you use gloves then its a pain to mold it and make it smooth, everything comes out with rough edges. If you work fast enough and use your bare hands you can usually get it pretty smooth but sanding is ALWAYS going to be needed. Its a very light substance so sanding doesnt take forever.Originally Posted by Sh0cker
is bondo just bodyfiller then? can u link me to a info page, i think its similar to somethin i use at work. thanks,
tom.
Dont know of any links, but if you have ever worked with wood filler its similar in texture and all that. Just dries a lot faster.Originally Posted by mutilator

never heard of bondo tho, presumably if i use wood filler with quite a bit of hardner it would be ok. i tend to use fibreglass hardner cus they never give enough hardner with a tin :P
damn.. good job! makes me wanna redo my dash!

Thanks, I will show more pics when it's installed into the Jetta.
Bondo is used it auto repairs. It hardens in 2 mintues. Faster than 5 min epoxy.
If you use your fingers to smooth it, it will work well, but only for the first 1 min after mixing. Also you will have to pick the bondo off your finger.
I did ignore the cancer label on it though.

You can also use liquid plastic. I beleive all three are the samething, bonda, epoxy and liquid plastic.
