use a small plastic or metal putty knife you only really need the bondo to fill in the gaps and holes and if you want it to dry faster or slower adjust how much hardner you put in it

I would suggest anyone using Bondo to use the blue can with fiberglass in it, not the plain red can Bondo. The basic red can stuff will eventually show hairline cracks after repeated heating and cooling. I have seen it first hand. So if you live in a hot climate (Arizona, etc) use the Blue Can with fiberglass. Its easy to work with, just a little stiffer...

    Looksl ike this when applied.
For the Audi guys - step by step (bandwidth warning!!!)

Nice work on the screen, btw. Looks great.

Is the combination of epoxy and bondo strong enough to hold the touch screen in place? Or did you use some other mechanical fasteners to hold it in the dash??

I've got a spare radio trim plate that I don't mind hacking -- does anyone know of a source or spare Lilliput front panels in case I a) change my mind or b) screw it up?

its strong enough definitely. The epoxy is only used to tack the pieces accurately together so you can get the bondo on it without it all moving.

    Great Job. Looks nice.

I noticed you didn't do sothing I didn't do the first time I did mine and it later cracked. On your next project drill holes in as many places you can next time. By drilling holes (1/16-1/4 inch is good) the Bondo penetrates to the other side of the plastic. It almost always expands or falls once it's on the other side and kinda works like a rivit. This way you're not just bonding to the surface of the plastic your really bonding to the plastic. In the event the plastic flexes it will pull the Bondo with it instead of try to peel away from it.

    Just a little tip.

Also I used a Paint called "Exterior Trim" from PeP Boys and it came out since and smoth like the factory GM plastic (an FYI for other GM owners).
