what i did for the popping is i bought a delay turn-on circuit from http://www.davidnavone.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=N-66A it is adjustable from 0 to 30 seconds and works great

also my main volume knob is on the surround processor mounted indash. you should be able to get a pre amp level volume control somewhere

Sounds like I found a mute button and a nice way to turn on the amps 30 seconds later. I hope thats enough, I wonder if you can wire two in series to get 60 seconds?

Yup and you can fiddle with both to get 2-60 seconds.

    WITH Head Unit

Well This is what I've got:

    Sound Blaster Live 4.1

Jensen MP3-CD player w/ IR Remote & AUX
    --This drives 2 Infinity 3.5" 2 ways w/ 1" Tweets

200 (rms) Watt Radio Shack amp
--This drives 2 Sansui 6 way speaker boxes
    ----Each Box has: 15" Woofer, 6" mid, 2 6" horns, 2 1.5: Tweets

I'm current routing the fronts to the AUX on the head unit (which turns on the AMP via the AMP Relay wire). The Rears (which also carry the bass frequencies) are aptly routed to the 200W amp, and the Sansui's.

It works pretty good. I just make sure to have the head unit off during PC power up.

When I turn the car off (with the stereo on) I do have a 3 or 4 second delay before I get a pop as the power drains from the amp.

The reason I went this way is though the carPC is a semi-permanant install I still want to be able to have tunes upon PC removal.

Oh yeah, you're proably wondering how I control volume, I do that with mouse.

Also when HU Less plan on not getting great FM reception, you may get OK reception in some areas, but crappy in others. I live ony a few miles from a major radio station and it comes in like crap using the D-Link apperatus. I am now using my head unit and sold the d-link. I tried a few mods on it but the quality just wasnt there. Anyway give me XM and I will give you my HU....
