    Question IDE to USB

    what u guys think... if i hack this case

    and i just hack the box apart to get the components out... it says its ide so it should connect straight up and its usb 2.0 and its only $27.50 AUS

    What exactly are you looking to do with this? It does say IDE but it's for a laptop drive. Also, I think you can get the same thing for less.

    connect it to a slim line cdrom..cause my pc is in the back and i want the cdrom is in the front

    just thought it would work cause it says IDE.. mind u i have a ide converter on the back of the slim cdrom

    you can buy an IDE to USB adapter w/ out having to hack this case. Check it out Here

    There are alot of other ones like this... so why waste a good case. Also you could just use the actual case and hide the drive under your seat.
    New CarPC on the way again I think. I miss my old one!!!

    a slim drive wont fit in the case which is the problem..

    i'm also looking for a usb 2.0 to ide adapter to use on my dvd drive but am concerned about the additional power needed. i found another adapter on ebay that requires only 3 volts. the power pack is rated at 1.5 amps. i found a radio shack 12v adapter that is only rated at 1.2 amps. i'm wondering if i should try this one or try to get an adapter that uses only 12v. anybody?
