    Christian,

    Firstly, welcome to the forums!

What will you be doing with the system? Any videos/GPS/visualisations? If so, I recommend going for the M-10000 or the MII-10000 They are much faster

The best way to power them is with an Opus power supply. There is a group buy being organised in the For Sale forum here, take a look

The best bet IMO is to either find a Mini-ATX or Mini-ITX case, or build your own. This can then be put in the trunk or under a seat etc.

If you are going for GPS, or anything involving text, then make sure you get a VGA display. Check the FAQ for details on why. Touchscreen is a nice thing to have, as you don't have to worry about a keyboard/mouse while you're driving

Don't forget that the is your friend! There is a whole wealth of information here!

Short answer: Yes. Long Answer: Not in your car without other power supply utilities, such as a power invertor (12vdc-110vac)

    Does that make sense?

perfect... so an ITX motherboard uses a standard ATX power supply (but just smaller normally)??

Will purchase a power inverter and have a go at building my own ITX system using an old ATX supply.

    cheers

    before you buy anything

    go here mini box

They have power supplies design for mini itx mobo along with stuff to adapt for auto use. I'm stuck out in the desert so I haven't had a chance to test out what I bought from them yet.
