And I am still hoping somebody can tell me that they have used either of these with a Matshu****a 8184 (iMac) DVD drive without having th flip it over (hanging off the side of the drive) and cutting the back of the drive away to get it to go in deep enough?

Those adapters will never work without flipping them over. The JAE connector can only go on one way, so unless you're able to flip the connector on the drive's PCB or do some ultra-fine soldering to run wires from one connector to another, the adapter you bought won't help.

Yes, those do help.... I guess I was just blind before.... I read through that entire link (the second one) yesterday and didn't find anything other than the allmacs.com site references and that was useless because their site seems to always be down....

Today it wasn't down, but every search came back with an error message.... real professional group there huh..... either that or they run the site on a Windows server.....

Anyhow the other link which I just saw in that post (for welovemacs.com, or whatever it was, actually had the correct adaptor).... now I just got to get over paying $30 for an adaptor to use a DVD drive that I only paid $15 for.....

I am curious why the Slot Load DVD drives are different? Are they just trying to be difficult? It seems pretty assinine to me....

ANyone no where to get a JAE to 50pin IDE adapter...?
