Will a vertically mounted slot load CD drive skip?

Hi everyone, I have a nice mounting location planned for my pioneer slot load dvd/cd drive but I was informed earlier today that it will skip if I mount it that way. Does anyone have experience with this? I would really like to put it in this location, it's perfect for what I need but I don't want it to skip. I would figure it would be no worse than mounting it horizontally and people mount regular drives that way all the time right? Is there anything kind of vibration dampening technique that I can use when I install this? Any input is welcome, thanks a lot.

Yeah I'de like to find this out as well as the originally planned location will not work for me. If this a no go than I guess I will have to get a slim drive for version to to make it fit where I wanted to

Test it out in your home pc or in your house or something prior to mounting it. I would have to say that technically no it should not skip from what I've seen in the past.... however I have yet to try anything like that. But if you really want to know just test it out in your house and see if it skips, if so post the results
New CarPC on the way again I think. I miss my old one!!!

Haha, I can see a funny mental image of me jumping around with the drive in my hands. Oh I should mention that the drive will be vertical but not sideways, it's going to be pointing straight up... so I dunno if this has an effect but we'll see I guess.

Thanks for the info man. If you don't mind me asking, can you describe exactly where your drive in located in your car? Mine is going to be pretty close to the sheetmetal on the flooring of the car.

    Flopping! he he

Mine is flopping around in my center council connected to a IDE to Firwwire connector. It has taken abuse. I think I am going to start working on my system again now that it has warmed up. I plan on getting a completely different drive though. I want a slim line slot load and mount it near my 10.4" Screen.
