Dolby ProLogic®, Dolby Digital®
Idea For MP3/DVD/TV/FM system
SB Live MP3+
SB Optical Digital I/O card
voodoo 3 3500 TV
AMD K62 550
64Mb RAM
Pioneer DVD-105S ATAPI
but here's the most important part of this idea (also the priceiest)
Alpine PXA-H510 http://www.alpine1.com/html/pxa_h510.html
this will cause the system to be expensive because of the number of amplification channels needed (not to mention that the PXA-H510 costs $500+ already)
I think this would be a great setup because of the optical digital output of the SB digital I/O daughterboard for SB Live cards should Hook up to this DSP, also it has a set of analog stereo outputs that a car stereo reciever could be plugged into as well.
now i just need to save up some money so i can test this idea out...

I'm already in the middle of an install with a PXA-H510 at the center. I am having it installed (hopefully) next week, but I have been testing on my home receiver which has a optical dolby-digital decoder. One thing to remember if you are going to be using a DVD-decoder board is that most of them DONT put the digital output out the sound card, but have their own coaxial digital-out. Therefore, you will need to convert to optical by building a coax-spdif to optical-spdif. Luckily the 510 has 3 inputs but you have to switch between them manually.
thx,

I was thinking of using a software dvd player that supports 5.1, other possibility is using a new ati radeon all in wonder(instead of the voodoo 3 3500),it has internal spdif.
