VIA EPIA TC Mainboard:
So am I reading this right? This motherboard claims to have a 12v DC to DC converter built in with an output for the hard drive... wouldn't that eliminate the need for an Opus or what have you? Granted it only allows for 60 watts output, what would the average Hard Drive/CD rom eat up?
If I'm going to have to buy an Opus I'm going to go with a regular Motherboard I think.

There's a disclaimer at the bottom of the LOGIC Supply page that says you'd have to use a Power Stabilizer in a car or boat. Can someone describe what exactly that is and where to get one?
Looks like both the MII and the TC come almost identical except for the TC drops the firewire for the 12v>12v and to a 2 channel onboard audio card... and the obvious change in memory sticks.
A power stabilizer would convert the 12ish-13ish volts your car/boat uses to a clean 12v for the computer to use. The ITPS is supposed to do this... alot of people complain about those though. I've built my own ITPS devices using their schematics and they turn out pretty good.

It does come with a built in DC-DC convertor but not what you think it does.
The board requires a stablized 12V DC in and it converts this to the other DC voltages required, hence why is a DC-DC convertor. It just passes though the input voltage to the 12v rail so if you put in more than 12v DC you're gonna get more the 12V DC on the 12v Rail. Bye, bye HDD, etc.
Think of it as a Morex 60w DC-DC board (which does much the same thing) built into the MB itself.

So Cherub, how hard was the ITPS to build? Noticed that mp3car.com is out of stock and it's been a while since I played with a soldering iron anyways...
It's fairly easy (for me) I keep forgetting that you need to be able to program a PIC micro (I work at Microchip). Forget what I said about building one.
Every place I've checked is out of stock on ITPS..Anybody have good link?
