Good work, I used this sticky holder that you can put a ziptie through to secure the wire from moving.

IMO, that soldering job isn't THAT impressive. Its a good job, don't get me wrong, but you people on the first page were acting like he is the second messiah or something. Soldering just takes a little practice. After about 2 weeks of hacking electronics up, modding my Xbox and putting LEDs all over it, I have gotten just as good as he is.

I was going to do this and happened on this thread while looking for a shallow HU. Nice job, I think I will use the cat5 as well since ribbons are not as easy to route.

In my install, I want to push the HU back behind the LCD and remote the faceplate to another location below the LCD. I am also going to have the DVD slot drive pop the disc out from the CD slot in the faceplate (will need to wire in the eject button from the face plate to the DVD drive).

The max depth (total) that I have is about 6.5 inches. Does anybody have a suggestion on a shallow HU with an AUX input?

    Thanks

Good luck finding one other than the standard depth. I searched for a couple of months and came up with nothing. I am going to do a similiar thing with my full size head unit that is currently mounted under my back seat.

I know, I was not holding out much hope, but I will still keep looking. I may have to re-arrange things and put the HU where I had originally intended to place the VIA Mii10000 since they are almost the same footprint.

Seems like whenever I start something like this I keep finding cool things to add, but they each become a not-so-cool headache after a while.

After reading thru the forums, I think that I should have a regular HU, well that and driving for the last week with no radio I think that audio thru the HU with the AUX would sound alot better too.

I'm guessing everyone is applying some liquid glue after their soldering? I have been building different thinks for my computer like some cabinnet controlers for my MAME system (little box with regular arcade controls buttons and sticks, work super nice.).

Glue, or you can use a sticky tiedown holder like mine.

I saw this one on another board. I was thinking of doing the same with my sunglass holder on my 99 accord. However, I have heard people having issues with the length of extension wires and also on my pioneer p7000r, the eject button is on the back of the faceplate.

    Look awesome though.
