    2) What should i do with the screen during heat/cold, should i get a carry case for it?
    3) I have a sub in my trunk, what should i do about the harddrive and sub
    4) Is DVD playback feasible on highway trips?
    5) where can i get a cheap gps receiver tat works good

    Cool

    in regards to your questions......
    1) Don't know about that one....i hate after market stuff, cuz basically they invite theives to break into ur car....

2)I think the screen will be fine. If my LCD 40x4 can with stand the cold weathers we had here (MD) last yr, then i see no reason why TFT won't work. Also those screens were designed knowing it will be used outside in extreem conditions.

    3) Well i will take a wild shot at this one. Since i don't have those after market subs, i will suspect that the amount of VIBRATION is makes and also magnatic fields (guessing) MIGHT cause u some problems. For vibration, u might be able to over come that depending on the way u mount or design the casing for ur HD (that is if u have one). Because when building these projects, we all worry about the HD, that is the 2nd brain of the SYSTEM. CPU is fine because the zif socket holds that in place. If had bounces around with no sort of protection, well i think u can figure out what the final result will be. Now regarding the magnatic fields. If that sub produces large amount and depending on how close ur box is to the sub, well, u might wake up one morning to find out that ur mp3 box kicked the bucket... because your HD has just been wiped clean. Again i could be wrong on this sub and magnetic field theory.

    4) you know...that a very interesting question that ppl will answer differently. Well every once in a while when i pick up my little cousines (2 & 5yr old) and aunt, they (kids) make driving impossible. They talk like they are some damn radio commercial station. So i put on the DVD/DVIX or what ever movie i think is appropriate for them. And wala the shouting and yieling comes to a complete stop while i talk with my aunt. This also helps here to get a break from them little brats...lol. Trying to get them out of the car is another problem. Sometimes i have to get them some candies or snack..... . The other thing is this. Ever been to a drive through where the line is as long as you know what. It come in handy there.

    5) This one is pretty easy. CompUSA. Get Rand McNally. there are like $79 even though compusa claims it is $99. This works with a variety of GPS apps. And personnaly i like MS Streets and Trips for the mear fact that is has the font resizing feature. I see no reason why ppl with 4" can see the streets just fine.

ok enough...someone else should add to this

    here is my 2 cents:

1)Your deck should have no problem with switching between the sources it was made for multimedia stuff. There should be like a source button on the face that will switch between them all.

2)Screens like the one you bought were made to be put in vehicles so my gut says that they should handle the cold or hot temps. I have a 4" and live in NY so I will see how good it runs this winter.

3)I have my HDD and Mobo mounter under a shelf in my back seat, right under a wall of 6, 12" AudioBahn subs. Even when I crank it up for competitions it doesn't seem to have any effect on the HDD. I have it mounted on its side to reduce the chance of crashing.

4)DVD should be fine, this is another thing that is already in use for aftermarket systems. You just shouldn't watch while you drive.

5)I'm not into GPS much yet, but sounds like cenwesi has some good ideas there. I will have to check them out.

Hope I was able to help.

if your concerned about vibration and stuff, you might want to put some sound dampener like Dynamat on or around your pc, near the sub, etc... That will limit the vibration and better yet make ur music sound a bit better.
