    Post Sound Inputs/Outputs

Is there any difference in using a normal sound card and plugging output into a 1/8 jack to a AIWA tape deck (or what ever its called). Or using a soundblaster AWE64 which has RCA outputs in the card then plugging them into a tape deck which has RCA inputs ?

The 1/8" output jack on most soundcards is the same line level as stardard RCA equipment (1V peak to peak). There are a few which have an internal amplifer for unpowered speakers but they are rare these days. I would recommend the AWE 64 sound card though. I have one in my player and the sound quality is much better than my Sound Blaster 16 or the on-board sound on my motherboard. (I can hear the difference and I dont have golden ears)

Isn't that what they make duct tape for?

    hmm
    i dont under stand ppl
they solder up lcds and heaps of stuff but there too lazy or slack to pull a socket of a sound card and wire in 2 rca plugs

just rip the socket off and wire 2 rca plugs tyhere

not worth paying for a sound card with rca outs

    cheers

I agree. It isn't worth paying the extra just for the RCA outputs. I have an AWE64 with a 1/8" jack. I unsoldered it nd wired in some RCAs. The AWE64 gold has RCAs on the card but it's heaps more expensive. I dont need the extra wave table memory in the car

That's actually a good idea. I think I'll do some soldering tomorrow.
