    Making LEDs Trail

Hey I was wondering if anyone out there could give me an idea on how to make lights trail, I just need the basic concept, I've been told (by the geniuses at Radio Shack) that it was not an easy task, so hard in fact that they don't know how to do it. Anyway what I want is to have say 5 Leds lined up (1-2-3-4-5) and make bulb one blink and go off, bulb two blink and go off, and so on. when bulb 5 flashes I would like it to start back at Bulb 1. Thanks in advance for any help yall can offer.

People at Radio Shack generally don't know much about electronics.
You may want to give a try to one of the pre-made units. I've seen such things offered to fool a dumb carjacker to think there is a car alarm installed. Otherwise, you would need to find a diagram and build a circuit to do what you need. It is not as simple as connecting things in parallel.
