P.S. I would like to speak to anyone who has installed a carputer in a diesel vehicle. What concerns regarding key on wait for glow plug warm up...etc.

    Thanks in advance.

I have installed a carputer in a Vauxhall Corsa 1.5 Turbo Diesel. What are your concerns regarding glow plug warm up all about? I don't think it changes much as far as a carputer installation goes.
Old Systems retired due to new car
New system at design/prototype stage on BeagleBoard.

Well, my concern is that when I turn on key to acc position to warm up glow plug, PC will start to boot. When glow plug is warm and I turn the key to crank I believe it will kill the power to the PC momentarily. On my Kenwood head unit it does this. Basically it causes the booting process to interrupt.

It won't cause the PC to reboot if you have a good power supply.

And the power supply that comes as part of that kit won't be good for what you want. Really, the main option is an Opus, or something like a Sproggy if you feel like soldering it all yourself.

Don't have that problem with mine. Machine survives cranking, glow plug heating, shutting down, cranking again, whatever... But then my power solution is a little unique. I have a custom ISR based power supply, remote power on signal from hacked headunit, the main power line to PC is always live, even when the key is out.

I have also been researching this, I ended up calling opus solutions and asked them about diesel setups and they said it would work fine. I will know for sure when I build my setup in May.
