    Via Introduces Nano-Itx

At 12cmx12cm, the VIA EPIA N-Series is the world's smallest standard x86 mainboard for building the digital lifestyle.

They've been talking about this for a while...good to see they might actually have a product out soon!

Take a look at http://www.nanode.com to get a real idea of the scale...

Does anyone know how reliable these VIA motherboards are? I read in a post by Gork (the one with the 2003 M3 carputer install with the casetronics C137 case) in which he stated that he felt the VIA motherboard was of low quality. Here's a link to his actual thread 2003 BMW M3 Custom Dash / Overhead Console and it's in Post#58 (page 4)

    here's the quote:
Via's ITX motherboards are total and complete crap and an utter waste of money. The ONLY thing they have going for them is the size. If you want something small, get a shuttle system. The USB ports never power down even when the system is off. The BIOS and drivers are all broken. Every single piece of on-board hardware is complete crap and has something wrong with it. In short, these motherboards are far from qualified to be used in any embedded application whatsoever. I do not advise anyone to buy one. The major problem for me was the USB ports, and I hacked up a USB hub to be powered solely with an external supply to circumvent the problem. The computer will reboot unexpectedly sometimes, so I suspect I have a problem in my little modification (that shouldn't be necessary in the first place)

I don't have any problems with my M9000, and its been in the car for over a year. And at this point, I think the mini-itx boards are in the majority in terms of use in new carpc's, and this is the first I've heard of complaints.

Any ideas when this will be available to the average reseller?
