    digital hdtv/fm tuner

im considering buying one of these tuner cards for my carputer..

    AVerMedia AVerTV DVB-T

just wondering if any1 else has one setup already and can give us any views on its quality/workability in a vehicle.
this option seems better than a standard tv/fm-tuner card (ie. Winfast TV 2000) and not much more expensive. im assuming it would work well on a 7in lilliput lcd monitor with widescreen (16:9) tv stations...

How is it better than a WinFast TV2000?

Looks like they are very similar except that the TV2000 also has an FM tuner and CableTV tuner.

I'm not a fan of the LeadTek software (TV2000), but I'm not sure if Aver is any better. Of the two I have (Hauppauge PVR-350 and Leadtek TV2000), I like Hauppauge better.

the difference is digtial vs analog free-to-air channels, high-def widescreen video & 5.1 audio for most channels, those analogue cards are all 4:3 reception and stereo sound for tv and fm, the avermedia card im considering has digital reception for tv and radio..

I wasn't aware there were any digital signals on UHF/VHF. A quick google shows it all over the UK, but I didn't find anything about it being in the US.

all the stations have to play atleast 15% (around that) of programs in HD (high definition) but the rest of the time it is just SD (standard definition) which hasnt got double the lines res like HD, doesnt have 5.1 but it is wide screen..
only things like the action series and things like that, and alot of sports (excpet the F1 cheep low budget channel 10!) are in HD most comedy series and all other tv is in SD

every year the amount that has to be played in HD is going to be increased.

HD does look REALLY good. the picture is sooo crisp.
