ive contemplated that idea before. the downside is that they run about $100, from what ive seen.
Have you guys seen those pocket keyboards for PDAs that fold in half or sometimes thirds? That would be great for the car so it could be kept out of the way or used for both PDA and carputer. So how hard would it be to interface this to a PS/2 connection.
Another idea...use an old organize/address book thing with the tiny (but full!) keyboard...this is probably harder, but these things are all around my house.

Hey I am building my carputer, and I will be using a "Dauphin keyboard" it is smaller than the foldable kb for palms, I picked it up on ebay for $ 35.00 it is 9.5" by 5.5" and you can separate the actual key part of it and then it is only 3.5" by 9.5" I will be putting it on my visor for easy access!

My guess would be that the PDA Keyboards are serial based, and they you might be able to interface them to a serial port on your PC, but then you'd have to learn the protocol (probably nothing to difficult) PS/2 would probably require some more work.. I could be wrong though.![]()
I cheat, I own an empeg.

I have several Dauphin keyboards and have a local source. If anyone wants one, I can sell them for $15 US plus shipping (NOTE: I am NOT making a profit on this).
I apologize for posting a commercial topic in the wrong section. It seems appropriate under this thread though.

Hey Aaron -
You have a pic / dimensions for the "Dauphin keyboards"
Im curious as to the size / look to them.
Looking for a small keyboard? Check out thehalf keyboard. A review for it was linked on Slashdot yesterday.
Uhm, K.
I tihnk thats just about the worst idea I have ever seen.
concept good, size good, the whole thing about touch typing is the placement of the keys, they reversed the order of the keys.
I see the train of thought for one hand, but the left hand is not trained for right handed keys....
If shifting changed to "yuiop" instead of "poiuy" I think it would be much beter for touch typing.... WTF were they thinking.
