first link on google search for "usb ide"
I searched the board by cannot seem to find what I am looking for. I know there are laptop IDE to standard IDE converters, but is there one to convert a laptop IDE to USB 2.0? Or at least standard IDE to USB so I will use two converters? I would rather not get an enclosure and rip it apart (don't like breaking things )
Forgot to mention that I saw that contraption, but is there like a DIY version, or just a built PCB without a cable sticking out of it? Or at least a converter that does not have a cable attached to it.Originally Posted by DustinR
im curious about this too...can u convert laptop ide to standard ide to usb?
This is just a laptop IDE to standard IDE, it still does not help with the USB part of the question.Originally Posted by DustinR
combine the two and it sure dose.
Oh thats what you meant, I misunderstood. The device in link one has too long of a cable. I want to stick all of this inside a fairly small case, and I would like to avoid cables being all over the place.Originally Posted by DustinR
it seems like what you want is most easily found in something like this
and for 30 bucks why not give it a try. Cut it apart .. mangle it .. and it it dosn't work out for you throw it away. Don't be afraid of the dremel .. its your friend.
btw what about your situation requires you to have such a spacific solution??
