    Ide 2 Usb

I searched the board by cannot seem to find what I am looking for. I know there are laptop IDE to standard IDE converters, but is there one to convert a laptop IDE to USB 2.0? Or at least standard IDE to USB so I will use two converters? I would rather not get an enclosure and rip it apart (don't like breaking things )

Forgot to mention that I saw that contraption, but is there like a DIY version, or just a built PCB without a cable sticking out of it? Or at least a converter that does not have a cable attached to it.

well you could just take that unit apart. and solder this to it to complete your solution

This is just a laptop IDE to standard IDE, it still does not help with the USB part of the question.

Oh thats what you meant, I misunderstood. The device in link one has too long of a cable. I want to stick all of this inside a fairly small case, and I would like to avoid cables being all over the place.

it seems like what you want is most easily found in something like this

    http://shop.store.yahoo.com/cableson...toide25la.html

and for 30 bucks why not give it a try. Cut it apart .. mangle it .. and it it dosn't work out for you throw it away. Don't be afraid of the dremel .. its your friend.
