    Cool Idea

I did a and this didn't come up so I thought I'd throw it out there.
How cool would something like this be:
    http://www.anandtech.com/systems/showdoc.html?i=2025
You and a friend could each have their own monitor and surf, check email, play games against each other etc. Anybody else thought of trying one of these?

i'm sure one of our fellow mp3car member is going to implement this system in their car in near future. Imagine running 2 totally different application over 2 screens in the car. Screen 1 running media car. Screen 2.... well screen 2 could just be a to show off!

Actually now that you mention it I remember someone a couple of days ago wanting to move an app to a particular monitor with a button. He could just run it on a "seperate computer' on the other screen and it wouldn't interfere with whatever was running on the other one.

Someone in the car audio forum was asking if he could have two applications use two different sound outputs... he could use GPS on one output, while his kids could watch a movie with headphones on the other. This is perfect for that.

In fact, this is perfect for anyone that has more than 1 screen, and wants to have individual use for each. Great find!

Ya know... there's gotta be some sorta software for windows to do this.

Thanks! I am suprised one of the mega posters from anandtech didn't beat me to it. I think this is a definite for my carputer version 2.0. I'll just put the one I have now into the wife's car.

I really wanna get my hands on one of these now.

I wanna see how easy it would be to program for the dual user setup. Will touchscreens work for both users? Via software, can you allow the two "users" to interact easily?

I picture a setup where the rear LCD is like a little brother to the front, displaying only the video/audio capabilities, while the front LCD has video/audio/gps/etc. Basically, set the rear as a User while the front would be the Admin... with commands entered in there overruling any commands from the rear screen.

but if there's a software for windows to do this, it'll be sharing resourses which will make the pc slower i believe. i dunno if the jetway motherboard has developed some sort of parallel data I/O flow technology on the motherboard e.g a bit like the hyper-threading technology as in Pentium 4's or is it software based. we have to know this first otherwise it might not so efficient under heavy workload

Heavy workload? What in-car applications actually tax the CPU? We play mp3s, we play movies, we run GPS, and we interact with a serial port. For most of what we do, a P2 600mhz with a dedicated MPEG2 decoder card for DVD, a good video card for divx video decoding, and a good soundcard for audio would work fine.

If you can be on your computer with a movie running, an mp3 playing, and 2-3 more apps running... what difference is it whether it's all on one user account or split up over 2?

With all the power today's CPUs have, we're really wasting most of it.
