Okay, this can't be right.... Can it?
I looked at the specs on these Bulgin Switches (with the cools LED ring) and it says "Max. Rating - 50mA @24VDC"......
Does that mean if I use this as a main power cutoff switch for the PSU which will have about 8A @ 12VDC going through it, I will melt the switch????
I mean really, these are hefty looking switches, I can't believe they can only handle 50mA @ 24 VDC, that is 0.0012 Watts.....
so make the switch close a relay and run the pc off your relay
dug, you can be our guinea pig. Try it and let the rest of us know if it melts.
Yeah, I thought of that, but I am so sick of wiring up relays.... I got so many frigging relays in this setup now.... it will probably sound like a click factory when I turn it on....Originally Posted by Nic
Maybe just try it out and see if it smokes.... $12... I have burned up more expensive things that that....
50mA - 8A.. that's not like "Oh, it's ALMOST there.." That's 16x the rated amount! I wouldn't throw away $12 on nothing just like that. Go for the relay, man.
I'm a noob, so bear with me.....but what I want is to have a push-button (the Bulgin's look great) to START the carputer, and then have the carputer powerdown when the engine is turned off (a one way switch in other words...only to power on, not power off).
Would these bulgin buttons do this? I noticed it said momentary switch.....is that what this means?
If not, where can I find a button to do this, or how can I make this button do this? Thanks guys!

Yes the Bulgins will do this with an ATX PSU. Momentary means when it is pressed it creates the connection as long as you hold it down and when you let it go it acts as an open.
