Laptop hard drives

i have a toshiba laptop with no hard drive
im looking for one at the moment..

are all laptop hard drives the same size and work on all brands??

the toshiba drives seem to be the most expensive..
whats some other good brands to look at? fugitsu any good?

Brand does not matter. You do need to find out what is the maximum size your laptop will take and go based on that. The brand only matters on some laptops and it has to do with security (actually I think it only applies to Thinkpads). Some drives to look into are Hitachi/IBM Travelstar series. As crappy as their DeskStar (Deathstar is the common nikcname for them) drives are, travelstar are pretty good.

I forgot one more thing hope I am not too late, if you get a travelstar be carefull with used drives. If it came out of a thinkpad it may be locked in which case you will be screwed.
