I picked a bad week to quit sniffing glue!
Yeah!, Good luck on the fiberglassing and enjoy the sound.
Well, in all the negativity that seems to be abound this board with lilliput and all, I thought I'd offer a story of positivity:
So I've been building my carputer for about 3 months now, buying everything peice by peice and such, and last Tuesday I finally bit the bullet and bought my touchscreen. After much speculation I went with the hong kong ebayer and crossed my finger. I ordered it on Tuesday around 3pm and got it on Saturday, which satisfied the 3 day shipment promise.![]()
I hooked it up, and no logos no calibrations, everything seems to be doing just great.![]()
Next I went from the test bench and 110 to the Jeep and 12V. I'm using an APC 300 Watt power inverter. Hooked it up, and it worked like a charm. I hooked up the powermate, the GPS, the keyboard (USB), the USB soundcard, and a wireless NIC adapter. Everything went very well, had no hiccups or any beeps![]()
Now of course was the test. I'd read about the tank circuits and was ready for the computer to reboot when I turned the key. To my surprise it didn't. The inverter beeped but kept power to the CPU!!! NO REBOOT! I turned the Jeep back off, left the computer on, washed the vehicle and detailed it, at least 45 minutes went by. I expected the battery to be run down and this time surely the computer would reboot. It didn't... and don't call me Shirley (any Airplane fans out there?). Anyway, now I have the "fun" part left... fiberglassing the screen in the dash![]()
Just wanted to share my stoke...
