Help Eliminating Inverter Noise - Options

Here's my setup, I have my CD Head unit powered by the audio+/- and the power inverter powered by the cigarette lighter+/-, then my computer is plugged into the inverter.

Ok, so I've added a ground-loop isolator, in between the audio out from my computer to the audio in on the head unit... it did nothing.

So... to get rid of the ground loop do I have to splice the audio- and the cigarette lighter adapter - together? Or do I have to cut the power cord for the computer and the power cord for the inverter and splice the computer- to the inverter-?

(the computer case is grounded to the car chassis and the power cords and audio cords are on seperate sides of the car, not to mention I'm using shielded cables)

    thanks in advance

First, don't go through the sig lighter. Cut the cig. lighter part off and wire the + side to the battery if possible. If not wire the + side to and open space on your fuse distro box. Then ground the - side to a good ground spont on the chassis. Second, get rid of the GLI cable as it only makes you audio sound worse. Third, get a surge/noise suppressor from Rat Shack. THIS one will do wonders. Don't cheap out and get the cheaper one. This one has a better noise suppressor. Fourth, ground the PSU, if possible, to the chassis as well. And finally, move the inverter away from and audio cable if possible.

I have an inverter set up like this and I get no noise on the line even when I have a song paused and the volume all the way up.

    Good luck.

THE ONLY WAY THE INVERTER SHOULD TOUCH THAT COMPUTER PSU IS THROUGH THE POWER CABLE. DO NOT HOOK EITHER + OR - CABLE TO THE COMPUTER PSU!!!!!

the inverter is far from the audio cables, and i'll remove the GLI

the surge/noise suppressor you recommend is supposed to go in-between the inverter and psu for the computer?

...and do you mean just a wire connected to the psu case to the car chassis to ground it?

The surge/noise suppressor can't go anywhere else but between the inverter and PSU. It plugs into the ooutlet part of the inverter.

I mean ground the PSU to the chassis of the car if possible.
