Has anyone else run into interference with this modification?
I seem to be picking up processor noise or hard drive noise using this. Mostly whirring and buzzing. Wasn't there when I was using a USB soundcard and going to the amps. Wasn't there when i was using the HU alone to the amp either.
Basically, it did make noise before the mod, but does after.
I'm using a laptop and going though a pcmia card to give me 4 usb 2 ports if that makes any difference.

    Any ideas what's going on?
Seems it works great for everyone else.

    Cheers

    BJ

*edit- I forgot to add, it makes the same noises if I use the native usb port and also if I hook the usb up to my new laptop*

You're going USB from the laptop to the XA-300, right? If so, there shouldn't be any interference noise . . .

But if you're using the component in's on the XA-300, you could get some noise.
    So far:

    USB to the xa-300.

There's a constant rate beeping noise soft in the background and a buzzing anytime I touch the touchscreen in addition to constant background noise.
I think somehow the computer "noise" of components running is comming through the usb ports.

Only if I perform the mod. I resoldered the printed trace and removed the jumper wire and the noise is gone. It's just a PO as winamp is a pita if I change sources on the HU.

    Driving me nuts!

I'm just grasping at straws here, but I would try modding your USB cable. Cut the ground in the cable - not the negative voltage - the ground. That may eliminate the noise.

But then again, if you're getting all kinds of other noise - beeping and buzzing - that sounds like some really strange problems. How are you powering the screen? the carPC? Are you using an inverter?

The screen is powered of 12 volt car current (it's designed for it), the pc is powered by a car adapter made for this particular model laptop (it does it on battery power and another laptop also), and I do have an inverter in the trunk but it doesn't power anything in the system. I did try a powered hub using the inverter to see if it was a power issue, but the noise remained the same.
I think I may just have to go with stopping winamp before switching sources on the HU so winamp doesn't freak out and lock up.
    Thanks for the help.
