Not as good as expected (pls help)

After months of planning i finally installed my very first carputer yesterday. With only a few teething problems, most of my worries have panned out. Only a couple of problems remain.

Firstly, the system is running a lilliput touchscreen with a 3m extension VGA cable (& touchscreen USB cable). The quality of graphics is no where near as good as it was when i hooked up the lilliput in my room. All the writing is very fuzzy & not at all clear. Could this be because of the extension cable? Would getting a 1.8mtr cable be significantly better? Would getting better graphics card make it better?

Secondly, the amount of feedback I am getting through the speakers is ridiculous. Every action I make (ie. scrolling) makes a different sound. The sound quality seems OK, but there's no way the interference is good. The Opus is noisy, so i don't know if it could be the problem. I am only using on-board sound, would it help getting a sound card?
I'm debating on either going the Sound Blaster Live or Audigy LS. Which one is better?
Could mounting the harddrive further away from the Opus help this? The grounding is quite good, so i don't think it's a grounding problems. Perhaps RCA's?

Thanks guys! Without this forum i'd be screwed!

    Carputer: Mirco ATX, 2.4gHz, 256ram, 80gig, 7"touchscreen, Opus

Unfortunately, that's the end! Was good while it lasted, but gotta sell the car.

check the din connector in the lilliput. It is of horrible quality. And make sure you have a good quality extention cable. I'm running it with 10 feet and is super. Only time it was fuzzy, the connector was not fully in. Be carefull not to put the video cable near the sound cables. I had to re-rout it.

I had this problem too. That connector takes some pressure to fully connect!

It was the connector!! I rammed it in as far as possible (probably bit too far) & now the quality of video is exactly what i first expected! Beautiful.

Still...the same problem exists with the sound & interference. It seems that the feedback is coming from the harddrive cause everytime i move the mouse or select something, u can hear it as feedback.

    Any solutions?

Which sound card should i go for? Live or Audigy?

Have you earthed your motherboard at all ? to the same position as your opus ? I too had a fuzzy screen, it was also the din connector :-)
