I thought about it....though the Commel 671/PentiumM combination is much better. However most applications in a car just don't need that kind of horsepower AND have such a restriction on space. So, most people go for VIA because it is small and cheap. If I wanted more power and size wasn't an issue I'd probably get a micro-ATX m/b and an Athalon-M setup.

If you need the ooomph and want a teeny PC footprint the the commel 671 is perfect or the task.

I agree but Im just not too happy about the pentium M price, performance and availabilty. The heatsink mounting for it is also smaller...not sure if this can be bought easily. If all are readily available for reasonable price then I guess Ill go for 671.

Lucky you...which PSU, case and processor you buying for it and where from?

I have my own plexicase that I made for my M10000, I will just cut out a bit for the pcmcia slot. The 1.5Ghz M chip (not P-4Ms) I picked up new for $75 on ebay (I saw two 1.7ghz M chips go for $50 BIN, gotta be fast!). The PSU is the Opus 150W that opussolutions said they would modify free of charge.

ddogg_777, where did you get the LV-671 from? Also how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? I've been considering this board but from what i've read on the boards, the cheapest its been found is $325. Also, I'd love to hear a review of the board once you've gotten a chance to play around with it.

Basically, why would you want to spend extra money on a Pentium-M or a motherboard that supports a Pentium-M? It would make sense in some applications, but I don't see the advantage for a CarPC... Maybe I'm missing something...
