Sound card / noise
Finally, after going to ridiculous lengths, i have got everything 'almost' perfectly up & running. The only problem that still exists is noise / interference.
At the moment i am just using onboard sound, and i am getting heaps of feedback (engine noise & hard disk noise). I have grounded the Opus, but nothing else. Should I ground the motherboard/hd/case??? If so, what is the best way? Should i mount the harddrive away from the Opus? I have run power wire & RCA's on seperate sides of the car.
I also need a recommendation on buying sound card. I don't want anything too expensive, but something of decent quality. Would an external sound card solve my noise issues?? What is better, Sound Blaster Live, Extigy LS, Extigy ES?
Thanks AGAIN!

Grounding the mobo and case got rid of my alternator whine. Just attach a wire to one of the mounting screws for the mobo. Also attach one to the case maybe on one of the screws holding the cover on. Ground to a common place on your car frame, preferrably the same as your PSU and other things.
The onboard sound from the Epia is notably poor. I got an Audigy 2 and am very happy with it.

Question - What if the Case is made out of acrylic ? Should I solder a wire to one of the mobo stand offs and then to the ground for the PC ? I am curious - I will be installing everything next weekend !

Thanks Wi77iam for you help.
I'll definetely give it a go tomorrow. I'll see how it goes. But i'm still going to buy a sound card cause the quality aint crash hot.
Will external make a difference?

BUMP - Hey - My question is similar - I have an acrylic box with brass 1/4" risers for the motherboard... Should I ground the motherboard in some fashion ? Anyone with Acrylic boxes have a problem ? I can fire it up just fine in the house with an ATX power supply... but would love to combat all the potential problems prior to install. Hcomplyr - is the soundblaster MP3 a USB external ? I buried the PCI slot on my M10000 and wouldn't be able to use it without reformatting the box. Any tips advice is appreciated !
