It'd be difficult, but possible. You'll have to take apart your CD player, and then modify it to the point where it probably wont be usable. If you can get it apart, take a multi tester and see what lines get got when you push what buttons.
Hi All, I just bought my 99 VW GTI, and had a question about the stock deck, it has controls for a cd changer, and i was wondering if there was any way i could hook up my carputer and use the cd changer controls. Also is there any place where I can find out what tools I'll need to open up my dash, and How? :-) Thanks guys

This plugin lets you use the head unit's buttons to remotely control your Winamp player via commands sent to your PC's serial port. For instance, pressing the Up/Dn buttons on your head unit will make your Winamp player go to the previous/next song in your playlist, respectively.

Let me know how it works. I just got a 03 GTI VR6 with the monsoon sound system![]()
Alright, So using this VWCDPIC i could run my carputer from the main deck, and from there run my sound out using the decks power to the speakers. What happens when I make my eventual upgrade to a 7'' LCD in the double-din location, would it be easy enough to just run the carputer signal into amps and forget the deck altogehter? I'm just searching for the cheapeast and easiest way to get this going right away, with plans to upgrade later.
