Deep cycle batteries are intended to deliver steady current of a long period of time, and generally you run them down to or below tolerable performance level before recharging them.
So if you were going to use one for your carputer, you should probably make (or buy) some sort of device that will allow the carputer to run off of it for so long, and then let it recharge.

Seriously speaking, the aux bank is primarily used (other than block parties) for camping which requires long extended times between recharges. It has nothing to do with the output of the alternator or anything. I use the aux bank for other things other than the CarPC. There's a Xantrex XPower 1750 Plus inverter hooked up to it.
