I have a laptop, with a recently busted lcd (yup, I'm ****ed), that I was considering using as my carpc. I'm considering using a liliput touchscreen and mediacar with the laptop in the trunk perhaps with a firewire HD.
So basically, I'm asking if anyone has done anything similar? It seems to make sense to me...
1. Power adapters for laptops are readily available.
2. Shutting down can occur after power is disconnected due to battery in laptop.
3. Laptops are designed with more abuse in mind.
4. Well, I don't exactly have a 4, but I'm sure there's a few more good reasons.

yea, lots of thought of htis so it seems.. i agree with you on the battery factor being nice sinc eyou can turn your car off and shutdown the pc later on if you want..
if you do do this route, you'll want one of those laptop car power adapters on ebay, it powered my cappuccino tx1 minibook pc in my car pretty good..

the only thing you need to figure out is how you are gonna turn it on. Most laptops dont have a "resume from power loss" setting - so you need to wire a momentary in there somehow. Other than that if you have a laptop you can dedicate to the cause - it is much more pragmatic.
I just posted a thread in power suppleis about my questions regarding powering a laptop....just as an fyi![]()
