    Can this be done?

    Hi all
I was wondering if there is a way to do this:
I have an via epia CL1000 based carputer and I want to use an inverter that I allready have. What I wanted to know is if there is some way of connecting a notebook battery between the inverter and the carputer, this way I think it will survive the start of the car and allways have stable electrical power and also u could use it even with the power off(using notebook battery).
    Can this be done?
If yes can u give some ideas how to connect the notebook battery to carpc and inverter?
Thanks a lot for your help, and excuse me if this is a stupid idea

PS this could be done with a UPS but its big and probably will drain car battery I think.
    Best regards

    Nuno

Laptops have different power supply systems than desktop computers. Unless you want to power the whole computer on a laptop power supply, which will be a challenge, it's not going to happen. I'd just get a power supply that survives cranks.

    Thanks for your help
I thought that it was possible because my power supply is similar to the ones from notebooks(external DC 12V/4A).
So there is no practical way to do it? and there are no batteries similar to the ones of the notebooks but external that I can buy? Maybe a real small ups?
    Thanks a lot
