Thread: mach 460 amps

Yeah, good luck getting anyone to help you. I tried posting the same question a couple weeks ago. I got my mustang with mach 460 last week. Now i need to figure out the best way to add MP3. I think i am gonna use the crutchfield adapter ($50) to replace the two head units with one with aux in, and then use the extra DIN slot for my 40x4 LCD.

You say you are replacing your two head units?...I dont want to replace the cd player, but is there anyway to use the adapeter anway..could you explain what your doing a little better....thanks for your help though, finally someone responded.

ok, im back. sorry about that, i was at the beach for the long weekend. Essentially you need an adapter to hook up standard RCA jacks to the ford amps. I took out the head units today and found that the tape deck/tuner is connected by a propriatary connector to the cd player. If you want to replace one, you have to replace both. It is possible to get a tape deck system and then an in-dash cd changer to replace it with. My current plan is to replace the tape deck with an AIWA CDC-X507M CD head unit, and then replace the cd player with a 40x4 character LCD.

so your going to replace both head uints, but are you still able to use both the amps in the factory amps installed in the trunk with the new head unit? I have heard that the mach460 system is very sensitive, and any change will only make the system sound and perform wrose, or even stop working.

Yes, I plan on replacing both head units. There are actually three amps. One for the highs, one for the right mids and lows, and one for the left mids and lows. Since crutchfield makes this adapter, I assume that is should work fine. The problem is that these AMPs use different power levels and are very finicky were you not to use the adapters. I plan to make a trip to my local best buy this weekend, see what they know.

use a rockford fosgate 360.1 for base setups 360.2 for advanced, if you are cheap use a JL cleansweep

i took out spare tire made bottom amp rack with a jl 500/1 and jl 300/4 with a rockford 25 farad cap and stinger led fused distribution box. made top cover and cut 2 holes to show amps through plexiglass. jl stealthbox ,replaced sub with Jl 10w3v3 2ohms jl xr coaxes in rear zr component in front pioneer n3 with rockford 360.2. also put in a stinger 200 amp alternator. relocating battery with trunk using a kinetik 2400 power cell. hitting 142 db. oh yea 2 dynamat 36 sq ft packs
