They will stand up to almost anything that your car suspension can handle (unless perhaps if you drive an H1 Hummer LOL)

Whats up with #2 on this list (I realize this was posted along time ago). Does anyone else have the same opinion?? Logic tells me that if the drive is mounted vertically there is less chance of the heads smacking a spinning plate.

Anyone have anymore thoughts?

That [vertically] seems to be the theory but I've had no problems either way.

20GB Maxtor, vertical mount. Its been working for 1.5 years. Worst thing that happens to me is that a bad bump sometimes freezes or resets my comp, but I drive a lowered truck that rides like crap :

I was using a 30gig laptop drive, brand new and it died. It also skipped really horribly because of vibration. Switched to desktop drive and no problems. I have mine mounted horizontally, but I don't think it really matters.

I have a 120 hitachi deskstar, 7200 rpm, 8mb buffer
I havent had any problems with it. So far i have had the thing drop while in operation and short a power supply, and crashed my computer by going over a big pot hole. It still keeps going though

I had 3 drive failures, all vertical mount. one horizontal failure
You have to think of vibration when you think of 75G.
A little airflow and a little foam rubber will make a drive last forever
