This looks like it would work...
and should work with Girder too.
I have a feeling MOST people here have their computer in the trunk and like 2' RCA cables to their amps (also in the trunk).Originally Posted by wizardPC
This solution poses a problem because you now need to run RCA up to the front to the dash, and then back again. This adds like 20' of RCA to the situation, only increasing the possibility of noise and aggravation of running so much wires. This compounds when you have 4.1 channel output, too.
I think for this reason, the powermate works for most people; however, "there has gotta be a better way!"
I just don't know that is.... yet.
My Audigy 2 NX goes right to my amps.
I use the Griffen Powermate.
You can hack a mouse up, a USB mouse if you want. And make the mouse scroll volume control. Small.
thats a cool idea LESLIEx317537, cheap too. The button mod is also nice. I used to live on long island, Farmingdale. It was getting to hecktic for me,and expensive. Had to get out.
Farmingdale is so close to me.
Some guy had a really nice hacked up controller on his Audi. Do a search, he posted only 3 or so times. He used Girder with it.
I found the Griffin PowerMate while browsing through CompUSA the other day... I thought it looked REALLY useful and honestly, the size was appealing to me. I plan to mount one right in front of the armrest of the custom console I am going to build... right where it fits comfortably for ME! I didn't realize how customizable it was though... short clicks? Long Clicks? Push? TUrn? Combos of all of the above?! AWSOME! I'm gonna go back and pick one up for sure.
As for RCA's, my carputer and components will all be mounted up front but I have several sets of high-end RCA's to run to the back. Of course, with this PowerMate controller, if your carputer IS at the rear, you'd only have to run one USB extension to the front... should work GREAT! TTYL!

My Parents still live there, Conklin street is like queens blvd now. Then there's that crap with the illeagle immigrant gangs....
The Powermate was orig. designed for Macs. It is buggy in XP. I use it only for volume up and down and mute. If you enable the click and turn, sometimes it will do a click function when you don't do that.Originally Posted by coachreed
You can run a USB extension you can put a hub on it. This way you may want to install a Audigy 2 NX USB soundcard in the rear by your amps like I did. Youc an then run some short RCA cables and that way your RCA's wont have any chance to pick up interference. And also you will have a hub for more USB devices in future like USB XMPCR, USB FM ect... Just make sure you power the hub with the PS Molex 5 volt run.
Yea, Long Island has it's good areas and bad areas. Very diverse.Originally Posted by turbochris
