Arise ACE-865V dc-dc ps, system wont post, help...
Hello there. I've been gathering up the parts for my mp3 car system the past month or so, and just last weekend i finally had everything and put it all together. I have a micro AT motherboard (unknown brand, found it in my mom's old puter heh), an ESS pci sound card, an ATI All-In-Wonder pci video card, and a crappy Seagate 2 gig hd. I managed to find a really kewl small case to stuff all of this in, that fits neatly under my front seat. I bought an Arise ACE-865V 12 volt dc-dc power supply to power this unit. When I flip the switch, everything looks ok...the fans are spinning, the power led lights up, the hard drive spins...however, the system just won't post. I heard about a monitor not being connected possibly causing this sort of problem, that hasn't been an issue before with this video card. I'm using the composite video out to the parts express 5" lcd. I made sure everything is grounded; the ps, the puter case, and the negative lead. Everything is connected properly. When I bring the unit back into the house, and hook it up to an ac-dc ps, everything works fine. One thing i think might be an issue, is the fact that this dc-dc ps only puts out 65w. I've heard of other ppl using this ps in their mp3 car systems. Isn't 65w enough for just a motherboard and one hard drive? What's going on? Any help is appreciated.
I will be making a web page for my project once I have the time, but until then, here are a few pics:
