XP I bet. XP not being relaible enouh with my USB stuff was the final straw that switched my to Linux. Sometimes it will show up in device mangler but won't show up as a disk, that was really screwy.
Hi
I've recently completed my car computer and I used the famous usb to ide adapter. When I boot up the dvd drive, (Toshiba SD-C2502), doesn't show up in my computer. When I unplug the usb cable and plug it back in, it shows up and works fine. I searched and searched for a solution with no results.
Thanks for the assistance.

Yeah, I got gatesed a few days ago. My three USB2IDEs had a 120GB 3.5" hard drive, DVD player, and a 60GB laptop drive, and when I moved the kiosk PC (not carputer!) the gates XP steadfastly ignored my feeble attempt to plug thses devices in. I had to remove the hub, and plug each device separately into the USB port on the kiosk PC to allow detection. After doing this, I plugged them into the hub, and VOÍLA, everything functioned again.
Carputer currently 'ghettoed' into car!!!
