Post x10 remote

Has anyone got the x10 mouse remote working without a serial port (book pc). It will plug into the ps/2 port but previous posts have lead me to believe that only the mouse part works if you use the ps/2 port. I want an RF remote that will feed my custom program keystrokes, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have one connected to the PS/2 but I really haven't played with it yet.

I'll let ya know anything when I do. I heard it's pretty cool.

You can do anything with it plugged into the PS/2 port that you can with it plugged into the serial port....you just need to install the driver and configure the software. AND you get mouse control.

the remote is great. i used it with a laptop before i got an empeg. now i use it at home to control a laptop that serves as my stereo (mp3s on machine upstairs and the laptop plays them over a wireless lan). since winamp is basically completely keyboard controllable, you can map x10 buttons to commands like z,x,c,v,b for rewind, play, etc. it really is a great piece of equipment.

I looked on x10.com and the only price I see is $49.99. I did find a place that sells them for $24.49 but they are doing inventory until tomorrow so I can't order until then.
Has anyone used a 12v x10 module (if they make one??) to turn on the head unit and mp3 player from the rf remote??? Would be cool to be sitting around the camp fire and start up your stereo and mp3 player without getting up!! (I know pretty lazy but cool none the less)

If you use an inverter you could use this to start and stop your computer. Especially useful if you have an AT style mobo.

That would work but I would like to eliminate the 12v switch that turns the inverter on an off and also could power the headunit without the acc. being on? The company that I was going to order it from doesn't sell them anymore so if anyone has one to sell or knows of a link that sells them for less than $25 let me know.

I guess they jacked up the price of the mouse remote. I got mine for 25.
