    Max Number of USB Devices?

Just done a quick spider diagram of my proposed setup, and its looking like it could potentially comprise of up to 15 USB devices - with half of these in constant use:

    Mouse
    Keyboard
    Lilliput
    GPRS
    GPS
    Bluetooth
    WLAN
    GPS
    & Soundcard

anyone know if the bus could be overloaded?
    Cheers in advance

you can use up to 127 on a bus

of course bandwidth is another issue.

well considering most boards have 2 external (back panel) USB ports and upwards of 4 USB ports onboard.. you should be all set in every aspect.. just need to becareful of how you piggy back things.. like your mouse and keyboard wont use much BW but the WLAN will.. just think it out well and you should be fine.

Very true about the bandwidth. You would not want a SB Extigy, USB-converted DVD, USB-converted harddrive, and WLAN all running together. Could make for a bad situation with the devices fighting over bandwidth. Don't forget: A lot of keyboards and mice have PS/2 adapters. Can free up a few ports...

CAREFUL.... you might pull too much current through the USB and fry your mobo.... unless of course some are externally powered... I've fried a motherboard in such a manner (except it was on purpose and took alot of devices)

The motherboard will disable the devices if it finds it doesnít have enough power. I havenít heard of any damage done, but I guess itís possible.
