bad thing could turn good

Well i got in an accident on july 3rd. Someone was following way too close, and going too fast while a truck was infront of me. The truck suddenly stopped, so i had to stop kinda fast and these group of teenagers plowed into me going about 35mph. Their car was totalled- airbags deployed, egine on the ground leaking fluids, just totaly gone. My car (2000 honda ccord coupe) got some minor/moderate damage on the bumper so im going to use some of the insurance money to get a kick *** computer/audio setup after i fix my bumper. Might do some stuff to my engine with the left over money too. Bad thing is im going to have to drive my ford escourt while my car is in the shop getting fixed.

So yeah, im thinking of getting this:
I have a AMD 2.5ghz pc running on a nforce2 mobo with 512mb ram and a built in gf4mx/5.1 soundstorm that does hardware audio effects ect. But i might get a new sound car to avoid engine noise. Has a 40gig hd, and dvdrw/cdrw drives, but i think i need to buy a slim one for mounting somewhere inside the car. Im not sure what route i should go for interfacing with the computer besides touchscreen, since that can be slow. I was going to try to some how get stearing wheel buttons that interface with either the computer or headunit.

Thinking of getting a 7in (or 10 if i can fit it somewhere) screen with touchscreen overlay.

Headunit for radio?

Then for speakers, im not really sure. Was thinking of getting 2 12's then mount them backwards like all the kids are doing

. Throw a amp in the back on top of that, and ill be nice. But i was also thinking of going with some small Bose speakers because they sound so clean and clear plus they got a *lil* base.

Then im going to redo my seats. I can get Louise Vitohn material for retail, and i was thinking of getting my seats redone in them. Or any other brand if i can find a good looking one soon (anything that goes with a leather brown, white or black)

I also have a broken ps2 (broken fan and cdrom) that i was thinking about getting fixed. And if i do, there is a ps2 version of gameXcopy that formats any 50gig or bigger pc harddrive to ps2 format, and copies any ps2 game to the ps2 hd, and loads the games 70% faster. So if i ever get it fixed, ill buy a new hd and a couple of cheap tv's an throw them in the back seats. Might get a gamecube too, since they're only 70bux used.

Think thats about everything...shouldnt cost that much i dont think:
300watt inverter $ 60?
slim DVD drive $ 100? (might not need this, just rip everything to hd instead)
Screen(s) w/ touchscreen 2x cheap ones for backseat $100, TFT $200-$250
GPS $ ?? (might not need this for awhile too)
Radio/wiring $200
Speakers $100-$200
Amp $100-$200
So im looking at about.... $680-$800

Edit: is this monitor good? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...908857184&rd=1 It says its 400nits, not sure if thats correct or not.

Scrap the inverter, and get yourself an Opus 150W. it will power that kind of spec PC OK, and you won't get any audio interference, as there will be no dc-ac-dc conversion going on (which is where noise gets introduced)

Don't get Bose speakers, get Infinity or similar! Much better sound for the money. Plus, if you've got subs, you don't want your components doing any bass!

hate to burst you bubble, but you will go waaaay, over that, once you get started,

radio, is about 150-200, for a decent one,
wiring, is about 100
speaker, if you go with a decent brand will be 175-200
subs, will be about 350-400
amp will be, 400-600
add that up and that is you total.
i use to work in car audio sales, and installtion
now you can cut that in half, if you go with like lanzer, and boss, and legacy ****, but you get what you pay for

Its okay, you havent bursted anyones bubble yet. Ive already did research on the equipment that im going to buy, and your figures are WAY off.

wiring for the radio is about 60 bux and i can have my radio work with my cpc ( http://www.installer.com/acc/honaux.html )

ive found 2 12" speakers for about 80 bux, and they sound great. Plus i already have polkaudio 6'9's in my car so i wont need speakers ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3059315658 ) Im still going to need a box for the speakers tho....maybe ill have get a custom one made, or just throw in some 2 speakers enclosure.

Found a 1300 watt amp for about 100 bux ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5700206135 )

So yeah, im not sure what store you worked at, but you were either REALLY OVER CHARGING, or you used prosumer equipment. Either way, i know what im getting, and its not going to be anywhere close to costing as much as you think.

Edit: So that would be about... $300 w/ shipping

Who says? Im driving a honda, they make one of the cheapest cars around, and they are the most reliable. Look at my car for instance, someone hit me going about 35mph, their car is totalled, my car needs a new bumper. If youre going to make a comment like that, you gotta back it up dude. And in electronics, "you get what you pay for" is totally incorrect. If you find something that works great, cheap, and available, why not buy it?

But yeah i almost forgot about the tv's that im going to put in. Now im not sure about the two in the headrest, but ive found a couple 400nit touchscreen lilliputs that i was thinking about puttin in the dash. Those go for about 280 w/shipping, but again, im not sure if im going to get one because i havent done as much research on them as i shouldve.

Yup, honda has a good rep. Certainly not the only brand in that category.
If you are so certain about your quality and facts why did you post and basicly ask for comments?

BTW a 35 mph rear end accident.... you should sell the car and never look back.

Are you talkin about the way i responded to dude? Reason i did is because he came in proclaiming he was some car audio sales guru, and his figures were totally wrong. They were 2-3x's the prices i found them for. And im not going to sell my car because someone rear ended me. That makes no sense. If i can get it fixed back to stock and *hopefully* theres no frame damage, then i see no reason to get rid of my car.

Having inverter for powering is no good ; over 1000W amp for 100 doesnt sound good either, but you'll realize that one day.

I didnt mean to offend you, just state the truth.
You wanted to know others opinions, then here you have; its your money- buy whatever you want, I just agree what faiz_23 said, thats all
