Is it possible to replace the original remote eye? (Lilliput VGA)

I am, as the title indicates, the glad owner of an Lilliput 7 inches VGA touchscreen, which I at the moment are trying to fit inside the midconsole. (Thanx to Armen at Digital World Wide for excellent service, bye the way!)
In order to make that possible I removed the housing, including the control buttons and of course the remote eye, because the total size and hight seems to be a problem.
Living without the control buttons is not a problem, I've rather use the remote anyway. But logically then I need the remote eye, which I don't longer have in my service.

So what should I do? I am familiar to soldering, so an optional remote eye could fix the problem, but which type should I use? (The original has 3 connectors.) Can I desoldering the original and use that one?
And at least, to which spot(s) on the monitors connectorplate should I connect it?

If anyone have any ideas to contribute with, do not hesitate to write them down here. I will be forever grateful.

Yes, I might do that. However I have to deconnect it, and then reconnect it to... something.

So I gather that you took all the buttons off to save space, but now you want the IR sensor back so you can use the remote?

Why not put the whole board (with the buttons) back, desolder the IR sensor, extend the sensor with some wire and just hide the board somewhere? Is it really that tight that can't find a place to hide the buttons?

I thought you said it was liliput? doesnt look like that to me... looks nice tho

i would go with what eatyummypuppies suggested.. its small im sure you can hide it.

Only two out of three. I can't figure out what the connector in between connects to.

I think it's a Lilliput, but I'm not sure.

I'm planning to remove the air ventilation openings, pluss move the switches all the way down under the ECC. Then I have an ideal place to mount my Lilliput (or whatever brand it is) and also have plenty of space left behind it. (See picture.)
So I'll try that solution. If I should fail, I'm going to jump up and down on it until it fits.

I have one more question before I'll start ruin the interior.
Since I live in Norway, with a clima almost similar to Canada during some days at winter, is it likely if the back of the screen and it's circuit board are uncovered?
When engine is running it can be really hot in back of the dash, and when engine is off it's can be real cold, so I'm a little worried about potential condensation.
Or should'nt it be a problem?
