    Question Securing computer in trunk?

    Hi!

I am thinking about taking my home mp3 player and converting it to a car version. I was wondering how some of you all secured your computer towers in your trunk. I don't want mine to be bouncing around all over the place.

I don't really have any idea how to do it, so any suggestions are welcome.

It'll be a function of your car, the material that covers your trunk and the things you have in it.
If you have a sealed box you can make an adittional module (of wood) that fit the tower and attach to the existing box.
If you have carpet in your trunk you may consider put it in the horizontal (changing the HDD position) and glue a big square of velcron in the side of the tower.
You can also use that elastic ropes and attach two hooks in the trunk floor, to connect the ropes and pass it all around the tower.
You can even mix these alternatives and build a case to the tower in wood with a trapezoidal base and put the velcron in the bottom face.

The way I strapped my PC down has a lot to be desired, but it works. Just used some bungee cords and foam padding. It has a little play, but not much. Just enough to give it a little shock protection. My site below has pictures of it all.
