I would like to know how to get those free samples... How did you do that?
Too bad the first one got stolen. Makes me wonder if I should hide my mp3-player...

I've just send an email to Coilcraft Europe, asking them to send the coils as free samples. 3 to 4 days later they arived in the post. You can find the email addr. at their website.

    Max,

I tried to get the parts from CoilCraft, but I got a page explaining that I could not get free samples for constructing an mp3-player! (Apparently they check if a certain combination of products is selected...) I'll try sending an email and hope that will succeed...

Aaarrggghhh... It looks like the sproggy.com domain has expired! (I've whoissed it at netsol.com and they say it is available to register! Although registering it was impossible.)

Does anyone know when the site (if ever) will be up again?

[Edit]Yup, it works again... Must have been a hickup or so.[/Edit]

www.sproggy.com still works for me. Maybe this link will help you: http://sproggy.mp3car.com/
sproggy.com just forwards you to the above link.
And for the Dutch people in this thread. Farnell, the company where sproggy got most of his parts, has also an office here in the Netherlands.

    Gudday,
Just wondering wether any of you guys know how to wind the inductors (chokes). I can source them but they are relatively expensive compared to the other parts. Also, what is a good replacement for the skotchy diode (darned if I know how to spell that)? Also will there be a problem running 2 * 5v circuits in parallel? I read elsewhere that this can lead to problems using traditional regulator circuits.
    Cheers,
    Fab

p.s....Just another note, you may be able to use the max774/5/6 inverting DC-DC controllers to obtain the -12 line (500ma though)..check out page 10 of data sheet for usable circuit designs.

Don't go to the website, I've also tried this. What you want to do is send an email to the one of the Coilcraft offices in Europe. Here you can select which one, http://www.coilcraft.com/replist.html#Europe

    Question

    Max,

Did you send an email directly to the office nearest to you, or did you send it to the UK?
    ([email protected])

I've ordered all the parts for the sproggy PSU, the parts from coilcraft are all thats missing now.

Thanks for your help by the way!

    Shaper,

You said that you got all the parts except the ones from Coilcraft. So you already got the PCB, where did you get it? I also got most of the parts, excepts those from Coilcraft and the PCB. I hope you can help me.

    Hi Bor,

The PCB is not for sale. You have to make one yourself. (There is a PCB-layout on the sproggy-page.) If you have no idea how to do that, I could make one for you. (I have all the equipment at home.) However, I will be very busy the next two weeks because I have some tests at school. [dutch:tentamens]

I hope all the parts will arrive in the next two weeks, so I can begin with the PSU after the tests. If you want, I will make an extra PCB and send it to you.
