    Post Laptop screen controllers

Hey guys. I'm setting up a PC in my car and decided on a 12" SVGA laptop screen (mounted in the dash) as the monitor for the system. Where can I find the best video cards to drive such a monitor? I know about www.sageinc.com and have emailed them a couple times about the S550 with no replies. The computer has a DVD drive, so I'll need something capable of playing those. Any suggestions for me?

    Thanks,
    Dan

Oh, BTW, I don't have ISA slots, so it has to be either PCI or AGP.

Earth computer tech. has a lot of options, and seem to know there displas pretty well.

If you buy from them, you get everything you need.... (cables, inverter, etc) www.flat-panel.com they are kinda over priced though.

If your a do-it-your-selfer, you can get tons of pci video cards with lcd outputs, I see tons on e-bay all the time. but you would need to supply your own connectors and stuff.

i have a 13.6" laptop screen with dvd in my system and the video seems to drag. it kinda looks like a cartoon character going fast. i was going to use it in the rear of my car for display purposes at car stereo events. but now i'm not sure. i also 2 5" lcd's which work better because thy are smaller.

He can't use one off these cards 'cause his screen is digital, and those composite outs are only analog so he would need something like the controller..... expensive though

    arby,
i bought this screen before i ever found this forum so i thought i was buying what i needed. it was awhile ago so i dont remember what kind it is. my other screen-- 10" --is a tft so i can see the difference. if i wasn't loking to play dvd, i would be ok. its a nice screen otherwise.

raas, The "cards" im refering to have digital out. they are NOT composit.

The particular card I got uses a VGA in ( analog) and converts to digital for lcd.

The particular card I chose looks pretty good. It would be beter if I used a PCI controller, but the VGA in is a lot more flexible.

The card I got beats the hell out of composit.

Thanks for the replies. The screen arrived in the mail yesterday and it looks great. Probably going to install it in the sun visor (sticks out a bit, but OK). It's TFT and has 800x600 res. so I'm guessing it will be a good DVD screen.

I looked at Ebay and found basically two kinds of cards for sale there, the ATI Rage Pro LCD (20 pin DFP output) and the Matrox G200 LCD (P&D output). Both are AGP (fast), optimized for DVD playback and very cheap making them perfect. The problem is making the screen work with them. Here's my next problem, can anyone find me a site with the pin outs for these cards?

How do I find out what kind of connector my screen has? On the side, there's an extremely flat connector, about an inch and a half wide, with 20 pins inside. Is there a name for this?

    Thanks!!!
